Expedition Camp

5-Days Overnight

The Wilderness Is Calling!

Our 5-day Expedition Backpacking Summer Camp offers an immersive backcountry adventure through the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wind River Range, and more. Designed for both newcomers to backpacking and seasoned explorers, this camp provides an unforgettable wilderness experience. We offer three types of Expedition Camps: Boys, Girls and Parent-Camper. The Boys and Girls camps are for teens aged 13-16.  The Parent Expedition Camps allow any gender aged 8-15 accompanied by a Parent (or guardian).

In a small group of campers, guided by two experienced instructors, participants will hike four to six hours each day, traversing breathtaking landscapes and even reaching a mountain summit! The itinerary balances challenging hike days with “layover” days, where campers can explore nearby peaks or alpine lakes with lighter day packs. Each evening, they’ll set up camp in picturesque locations, working together to pitch tents and prepare meals on backcountry stoves. Along the way, campers will learn vital skills such as adapting to changing weather, practicing safe backcountry travel, mastering Leave No Trace principles, enhancing teamwork, and building a deep appreciation for nature.

This camp encourages participants to step outside their comfort zones, fostering self-reliance and confidence that will inspire future adventures—or even prepare them to lead the next family outing into the wild.

Guide

Kristen Andrea has over 10 years of wilderness backpacking experience. She is WFR certified and an active member of Sublette County's Tip Top Search and Rescue. Her ability to face any challenge with confidence comes natural and she hopes to instill that same confidence in the groups that she leads. She enjoys teaching the importance of basic backpacking skills, Leave No Trace, trail etiquette, predator safety, outdoor fundamentals, and more to her campers.

Kristen is excited to be guiding for CAMP GROW and having the opportunity to work with our youth in the backcountry this season. In a world swarmed by technology and social media, she knows how imporatant it is to unplug and recharge in the wilderness.

Wilderness

Experience the wonder of the great outdoors as you dive into nature and master essential backcountry skills. Hike through the wilderness, set up camp, and spend a night under the stars. Along the way, campers will gain hands-on experience in navigation, backcountry cooking, and more.

Our groups are intentionally kept small, to ensure a personalized and meaningful experience. Each group is led by carefully selected, experienced, and well-prepared leaders.
