Expedition Camp

One Week Overnight

Life begins outside the comfort zone!

Our week-long Expedition Backpacking Summer Camp offers an immersive backcountry adventure through the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wind River Range, and more. Designed for both newcomers to backpacking and seasoned explorers, this camp provides an unforgettable wilderness experience.

In a small group of campers, guided by two experienced instructors, participants will hike four to six hours each day, traversing breathtaking landscapes and even reaching a mountain summit! The itinerary balances challenging hike days with “layover” days, where campers can explore nearby peaks or alpine lakes with lighter day packs. Each evening, they’ll set up camp in picturesque locations, working together to pitch tents and prepare meals on backcountry stoves. Along the way, campers will learn vital skills such as adapting to changing weather, practicing safe backcountry travel, mastering Leave No Trace principles, enhancing teamwork, and building a deep appreciation for nature.

This camp encourages participants to step outside their comfort zones, fostering self-reliance and confidence that will inspire future adventures—or even prepare them to lead the next family outing into the wild.

Guide

Zane Meisner is a third-year backcountry guide and instructor at Camp GROW. A lifelong resident of Big Piney, Wyoming, Zane brings 22 years of experience exploring and guiding in the Wind River Range and Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Zane is deeply passionate about outdoor education and is committed to teaching others how to responsibly and confidently recreate in nature. His goal is to provide exceptional outdoor experiences for everyone he engages with—whether friends, coworkers, or clients.

Zane strives to inspire every camper on his backcountry trips to not only enjoy the adventure but to gain the skills and confidence to embark on their own outdoor journeys in the future. His hope is that these experiences become cherished memories, stories to share with family for generations, and defining moments of their childhood.

Wilderness

Our groups are intentionally kept small, to ensure a personalized and meaningful experience. Each group is led by carefully selected, experienced, and well-prepared leaders.

The itinerary is thoughtfully designed to strike the perfect balance of activities, aiming to make every camper’s GROW experience unforgettable.

We will explore the Wind River Range and Green River, with full facilities before and after the backcountry adventure.

Meals are wholesome, nutritious, and varied—fun group projects where campers contribute ideas and learn with guidance from their leaders.
