Preparation and Gear
We provide a detailed packing list, but essentials include hiking boots, a backpack, weather-appropriate clothing, and a sleeping bag. Some gear, like tents and cooking equipment, may be provided. Please review the Expedition Backpacking Packing List for more information.

No! While prior experience is helpful, our expeditions are designed to accommodate beginners and teach the skills needed for backcountry travel.
Participants should be in good physical condition and capable of hiking 4–6 miles per day with a backpack weighing 20–40 pounds. Training beforehand is recommended.
No worries! We offer gear rental for items like backpacks, sleeping bags, and pads to ensure everyone is prepared.
Safety and Health
Safety is our top priority. Our staff are Wilderness First Responder certified, and we carry satellite communication devices for emergencies. We also follow detailed safety protocols and monitor weather conditions closely.
Our staff are trained to handle medical emergencies in backcountry settings, and we have evacuation plans in place. Participants’ health information is reviewed before the trip to ensure we can address specific needs.
We educate participants on wildlife safety, including proper food storage and behavior in bear country. Staff are equipped with bear spray and follow Leave No Trace principles.

Activities and Experience
Participants learn essential outdoor skills like navigation, camp setup, cooking, and Leave No Trace ethics. They also build teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Each day typically involves hiking, setting up camp, preparing meals, and participating in group activities like leadership exercises and reflection sessions.
Our groups are kept small, usually around 8–10 participants, to ensure a safe and personalized experience.
Registration and Policies

Due to the remote nature of our trips, communication is limited. Updates may be shared through staff when possible, but this experience is designed to foster independence.
