Camp Counselor/Instructor

Instructors/Camp Counselors live in bunkhouse cabins with campers and are responsible for the health and well-being of the campers in their care as well as the daily operations within the cabin. Counselors will be expected to lead specialized camp activities and should be comfortable leading and teaching in some of the camp’s program areas listed under “Skills”, as well as participating in or leading special events, evening activities, and meal preparation/clean-up. They must provide leadership and direct supervision of campers while in the cabin, which includes cabin clean up, at meals, and bedtime. Counselors will also participate in backcountry camping trips and should be comfortable in rustic and remote locations.
1. Must be 18 years of age or older by June 4th, 2023.
2. At least one completed year of college is preferred.
3. First Aid/CPR certification required. Wilderness First Aid preferred.
1. Each counselor should be proficient in teaching one or more of the following skills independently: horsemanship, riflery, archery, rock climbing, swimming, canoeing, fishing, arts and crafts, blacksmithing, ecology.
2. Previous camp, youth group, after-school, or other youth involvement is preferred.
3. Previous horsemanship and outdoor recreation experience are recommended.
4. NRA or CMP Riflery Instructor certification is desired.
5. Lifeguard certification is desired.
6. Ability to play a musical instrument and lead singing during campfires is desired.
1. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
2. Ability to live comfortably with a group of campers ages 8-15 in rustic and remote environments.
3. Willingness and stamina to work long hours, including early mornings and late nights.
4. Energy, enthusiasm, and a healthy attitude towards youth.
5. Physical ability to jump, bend, twist, run, lift 50 lbs, carry a backpack with personal and camp gear in uneven terrain, at high altitude, in inclement weather, and with significant elevation gain and losses, for up to 10 miles per day.
6. High standards of moral character and personal hygiene.
7. Willingness to uphold and share Christian values with campers in a positive environment.
Camp Chef

Compensation: $425-$500 per week DOE
Includes: Lodging, meals and laundry
Qualified candidates will have experience in a commercial food preparation environment. Candidate should be able to rise early and work long hours, and comfortable in all aspects of food service. Chef will be responsible for preparing, serving and cleaning up to 3 meals per day for 5-7 days per week. Candidate will be responsible for supervision of campers, counselors, and volunteers who may assist with meal preparation, service and clean-up. Candidate should be cheerful, outgoing and enjoy a flexible work schedule, as some days we will not require food service. Typical meal schedules are: Breakfast 6:30 am, Lunch 12:30 pm, Dinner 5:30 pm. Camp typically serves between 15 and 35 people at each meal.
1) Experience in a commercial kitchen.

Wrangler

Compensation: $350-$400 per week DOE
Includes: Lodging, meals and laundry, Boarding of personal horses is negotiable
Wrangler is responsible for the care, keeping, health, and maintenance of all leased and owned horses (14-20) on camp property during the camp season. Wrangler will be expected to rise early every morning to take care of horses, and to have horses fed, saddled, and ready for morning trail rides on riding days (2-3 days per camp week). Wrangler will be responsible for maintaining tack, keeping the tack room clean and organized, and inspecting the horse herd daily for signs of injury or illness. Wrangler is responsible for basic horse first aid and administering of medicine, wraps, and other medical care as needed. Will be responsible for pasture maintenance and fence repair as needed throughout the summer. Wrangler will be in charge of all horsemanship instruction and is expected to teach basic riding skills in the arena and on the trails with a professional and cheerful attitude. Plans have been made for 2 backcountry camping trips into the Bridger Wilderness, during which the wrangler will be responsible for packing and leading horses, navigating wilderness trails, selecting campsites, and caring for horses and gear throughout the duration of the trip.
