Staff-in-Training (SIT) Program!
Are you ready to take your camp experience to the next level? Camp GROW’s Staff-in-Training (SIT) program is a two-week leadership adventure designed for teens completing 10th and 11th grade. This program equips you with the skills to become a future leader—whether at Camp GROW or beyond!
What’s in Store?
The SIT program is all about hands-on learning. You’ll dive into every aspect of an instructor’s role through hands-on learning, service projects, and training sessions on essential topics like:
Child development and behavior management
Counseling techniques and best practices
Communication and leadership skills
But that’s not all! SITs also embark on a four-day backpacking adventure in the breathtaking Bridger Teton National Forest. It’s your chance to strengthen teamwork and leadership and push your limits—all while soaking in nature’s beauty.

How the Program Works
Orientation & Training
Kick things off on the first day with an engaging session to learn the ropes and set expectations.Mentorship
Work closely with a seasoned instructor who will provide feedback and guidance throughout your journey.Hands-On Practice
Take charge by leading transitions, games, teambuilding exercises, and even camp-wide activities. You’ll build skills like managing behavior, conflict resolution, and creating positive camper relationships.Reflection
Reflect on your experiences individually, with your fellow SITs, and with your mentor to reinforce your learning and growth.
Who Can Apply?
To join the SIT program, you must:
Be 16-17 years old and in high school
Live in a cabin with up to ten campers, assisting with their leadership and guidance
Participate in daily instructor duties, while receiving constructive feedback
Uphold Camp GROW’s rules, traditions, and “Kids First” vision
Have a genuine interest in working with children and ensuring a safe, fun, and positive camp experience
